CADET or 2nd year band - Rehearsals for all Cadet Band members will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Eastlake High School. Rehearsals will run from 7:40 to 8:30.
BEGINNING BAND - trumpets & clarinets will come on Mondays and trombones, baritones, & flutes will come on Wednesdays. Fridays we will meet as a full band. Class will begin at 7:40 and will end at 8:30. Come to the
Eastlake Band Room to get forms.
WHAT YOU NEED – Enthusiasm and your own instrument!! All beginners will need the book "Standard of Excellence” Book 1 and "Yamaha Band Ensembles” Book 1 for your instrument. Please also purchase a folding wire stand for practice and see cleaning supplies below. We do have a few school-owned baritones available for a maintenance fee of $50 for the year. Listed below are other required materials for band:
FLUTE: A cleaning swab (small cotton handkerchief), cleaning rod
CLARINET: 4 reeds (size 2), cork grease, cleaning swab
TRUMPET, BARITONE: Valve oil, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake
TROMBONE: Slide oil, slide grease, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake
*****PERCUSSION: Students wishing to play percussion must start on another instrument until they learn how to read notes. There will be an audition in January to determine which students may switch to percussion.
***** Students that bring percussion to the first day of band will be asked to return their rentals for another instrument.
TRANSPORTATION - Students may ride the junior high bus to Inglewood and catch a shuttle to Eastlake or arrange other transportation. Your parent may call district transportation (882-5120) to find out where the bus will pick you up. Busses will transport students back to their elementary schools after rehearsals.
